More than 430 Jerusalem homes and structures demolished this year, researcher says
East Jerusalem — Fakhri Abu Diab told Voice of Palestine radio that 23,280 demolition orders are in force and that no more than 1% of Jerusalemites who applied this year got permits.
Israeli authorities have demolished more than 430 homes and other structures in occupied East Jerusalem since the start of 2026, Jerusalem affairs researcher Fakhri Abu Diab told Voice of Palestine radio. He said 23,280 administrative and judicial demolition orders are in force in the city.
Beit Hanina, al-Tur, Silwan and Jabal al-Mukabbir are among the most targeted neighbourhoods, Abu Diab said. He estimated that about 33 percent of Palestinian homes in Jerusalem are under threat of demolition and put the number demolished since 1967 at about 37,000.
